SummaryInstalls, maintains and/or repairs central office switching and associate equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Installs and maintains DSOs, T1s, PRIs, DS3s, and Ethernet circuits. Also, responsible for maintenance and care of CO batteries and Rectifiers. Must be available for 24X7 callouts and emergency situations including holidays.General Duties Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:Driving: ModerateTravel: ModerateDiagnose and repair faults in digital central office equipmentRepair, test, run jumpers and verify connections on Main Distribution Frame (MDF)Install, maintain, update and document special circuits and facilitiesInstall, maintain and repair Central office Equipment that provides Voice Data, ISDN Circuits, XDSL, Video, VoIP and Data NetworkingBecome familiar with/learn the operation of equipment and technologies (existing and new)Work with field technicians to test and resolve customer problems, provide information to complete jobs, work orders and service orders, coordinate with assignments as neededProcess repair and return of electronic circuit cards/equipmentInterface with internal/external customers in a professional manner to coordinate and disseminate information to complete job assignments and attain service objectivesSupport and actively participate in promotion of company products and servicesWorks independently and urgently while being a team playerLooks at current processes and procedures and provides input to improve the resultBuilding security and housekeepingAids and assist other departments and contractors as requiredPerforms all other duties/assignments as required by supervisorQualifications:High School Diploma or equivalentExperience in telecommunications and Central OfficeBasic keyboard and software skillsBasic Math SkillsMust be proficient at installing, maintaining and repairing central office equipmentMust have basic knowledge of NTI, DMS, host and remote product line, T-carrier, fiber optic and special circuitsMust have basic knowledge of voice Data, ISDN Circuits, DSL, Video and Data Networking ProductsSome markets may require basic knowledge of 5ESS, GTD-5 AND DWDM transportNetwork and A certification preferredAbility to work independently and desire to work ‘face-to-face’ with customerMust have successfully completed AC/DC & Basic Electronics/Digital Electronics screening or have equivalent certificationValid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record; CDL preferredMust be available for flexible scheduling, holidays, after hours, call-outs and emergency situations 24/7TESTS: Results obtained in standard tests for this position must meet minimum requirements established by the Company, in accordance with Company policyPhysical Requirements:Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds; must be able to distinguish colors; must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods on a regular basis, bending and stooping will be required occasionally; must be able to work aloft from a ladder; must be able to work in confined spaces and isolated areas; ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions; good oral and written communication skillsTools and Equipment Used: HAND TOOLSLOOP CARE4-TELLAPTOP/DESKTOPOTDRLIGHT METERETHERNET TEST SETVARIOUS OTHER TESTING EQUIPMENT
